Journaling

Being new to the tarot, I’m starting with the very basics. Initially, that means learning the tarot by memorising the major arcana (there are 22) of them in total. I’ve been browsing the net for tips and tricks and one idea is to memorise the major arcana in the form of a story. So that’s what I’m going to do today.

The second thing I’ve already started doing is picking a daily tarot card using an app. Afterwards I’m logging how I feel immediately on seeing the card, whether it’s surprise, happiness, sadness, whatever.

I also created this blog to explore in writing what those cards trigger in me. I think this will help me in a few ways, the first being that writing about my emotions will help me to tune into my immediate reactions better and secondly, I think exploring the symbolism and meaning in the cards will help develop my intuition further.

So, I’ll start doing that. Should the readings not pull so much from me, I’m not going to push it and on those days I won’t write a post about them. However, I think I ought to try to as much as possible as I think it could be a great learning tool.

It feels a little scary to tap into my emotions in this way, I’m already finding after a few days that the cards almost feel like a mirror and I’m seeing a reflection I wasn’t necessarily aware of. Hopefully it’ll get easier and feel more natural with time!
